The start of this day was no different from another other. Night's darkness began to fade as the rays of early morning began to wash over the land. Creatures stirred; some took flight in the air while others moved silently through the land.
'Just stay still,' the creature told himself, feeling his ears twitch just slightly upon his skull. All he could hear for now was the gentle running of water that gingerly moved around his form and the soft cries of those that were soaring high above.
Finally, there was a small splash. An eye of a light sapphire hue and one of both jade and sapphire focused on the small disturbance in the river. 'Come on, just a little closer.' After that thought, a small noise escaped from his stomach. The creature lowered its skull just slightly as if it were going to give in.
Lips parted just slightly as the sun struck the river, revealing silver scales of the creature the lurked near his form. Patience was wearing thin and hunger was starting to get the best of him.
'No.' He shut his eyes tightly as he fought the urge to try and catch the fish now. 'I can manage just a moment longer.'
Scales brushed up against fur, causing him to glance down. A smile sought its way onto his features before he plunged his muzzle into the water, teeth grasping firm hold onto his prey. It struggled and flailed which only caused the brute to bite down harder, breaking through its covering and allowing the creature to taste blood.
After pulling himself out of the river, the beast made his way over toward a large pine tree. Settling himself at the base of its trunk, he tore into his meal gleefully. As he gave his stomach a brief meal, he found himself glancing around the land. 'Am I the only one here? Or is there another one wandering the lands like myself?'
