Tsuki, Kage, and Dawn had finally reached their new home... almost.
Tsuki was sound asleep, recovering from Giga's latest appearance, while Kage and Dawn shared a beautiful moment together.
"I kind of always knew, y'know?" He said bashfully, "I just... I never said it, really, so... I wanted to be sure about us. I love you so much, Dawn, I really do." Mmm... it's easier to say after the first time... weird, but I'll take it. She's worth it.
He looked around the little cave the were in, taking inventory of their surroundings. Tsuki was nearer the waterfall, and kept calling for Hitoban in his sleep. Aww... poor bro. I hope Hitoban gets back to you safely. Kage decided to watch the waterfall for a while, daydreaming about their future together. He returned to reality all too soon, however, when he realized they were alone. "Hey, Dawn... where is everyone? Is this not that grotto you were talking about earlier?"

Dawn had zoned out for a minute as well, just enjoying laying with Kage, and she was brought back by his question. She shook her head and said No, the grotto is actually below us. There's a door back in the back of this cave that leads down into it that only the Alphas and Betas know about. It's so we can listen to what they're doing. Like if they get into a fight, we'll definitely know soon. Then you can just run down the tunnel-tough it is kind of steep-and you're there before anyone could get out the lake to come and get you. Neat, no?

"Wow..." Kage smiled, "either fate has smiled on us, or you've thought of everything." He paused to ponder that statement, then rolled over to gaze into Dawn's eyes. "It could be a little of both, eh? Either way, it is impressive. I can't imagine a more perfect place... well... actually, anywhere would be perfect as long as we're together." Kage blushed, and shifted his gaze, following the length of Dawn's body before his blush deepened and he turned away again. Take it easy, cowboy. No reason to get excited. He reminded himself.

Dawn blushed as well, but instead she moved closer to him, curling into him. She sighed and said Yes, Hitoban was born into a lucky pack...well for the most part. We're just lucky no one lives here anymore or we would have been in for a fight with the whole pack.
She felt a sense of closeness to not only Kage at that moment, but to Hitoban and Tsuki as well. Hitoban was like her sister and she guessed this made her a sister-in-law, but she felt connected in a web to all three of them. It was the best she'd felt in a long time.

Kage coughed slightly as Dawn snuggled into him, more out of surprise than any real discomfort. Oh boy... His breathing became more rapid and shallow, excited by Dawn's touch. He stopped himself and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. Let's not get carried away, Kage. Oh gawd, but she's gorgeous. He wanted to nuzzle her until her face fell off, but he knew that if he touched her, he wouldn't have the will to stop, and he needed to keep his wits about him. "Oh Dawn," He said, rolling back over to look at her again, "you do something strange to me, y'know that?" He chuckled lightly, "you're too beautiful..." like an angel. His breathing was still a bit excited, but he was still able to react... he hoped. Actually, he just hoped there'd be no need for him to react, or get up... or stop staring into her eyes... or...

Dawn heard his breathing change pace and knew hers had taken the same turn. She lay there, completely still, afraid to move or lose control of herself. She twitched her tail involuntarily, not used to being still for so long. He called her beautiful and she blushed. She was just another wolf, just like the rest of the Timber wolf populous. She didn't see what the big deal was. Sure, she was attracted to Kage a lot but there was more than that, as she was sure there was more with Kage.
She closed her eyes and rested her head on Kage with a sigh. Oh how she loved him. Before she'd known what had happened, she'd fallen in love. What would Twilight say? He'd probably make fun of her. But she could just make fun back since he'd settled down a long time ago.
Suddenly she opened her eyes and said Kage, I want pups sometime. Would you? She was shocked by the words that she'd uttered and she watched, slightly wide-eyed, for Kage's reaction. Surely he'd be more surprised than she, since she was the one who'd said it.

Kage tensed up as her head lay against his body. Her question surprised him a little, but only because he was thinking the exact same thing. He didn't know what to say at first. He wanted to say "of course, I'd love to!" but that seemed too... weird. Well, being honest about this has gotten us this far, hasn't it? "Honestly, that's been on my mind a lot lately. I... well... I'd be honored... and..." His heart felt like it was going to beat right out of his chest. "They'd be beautiful... a family; you, me, a litter of our own, a little peace, and a beautiful land to call home. I don't think I want anything else... but..." His gaze faltered as doubts began to cloud his mood. "I don't know if I could be a good father to them, y'know? If -- when we do have pups of our own, I want to... oh, it's impossible! I want to be a good father, is all, and a good mate to you!" He rested his head on her neck, nuzzling her softly and staring at the cave wall. "I don't want to disappoint you, or make you ever regret us... so... if you're willing to take that risk, then I will gladly bind myself to you for all eternity -- but make sure you're absolutely certain before we take it that far. That's all I ask."
His breathing had normalized a little, but he was still excited. He had wanted this since he and Dawn had begun traveling together, and now it was within his grasp, but he wanted to be sure he did the right thing for her.

Dawn smiled when he said it had been on his mind as well and she listened to the many compliments laced into the question. She bopped him lightly with the back of her head when he said he didn't know if he'd make a good father and she said Of course you would Kage, don't be silly. You're a wonderful mate and a great brother and I know you'll make a great father as well.
I listened in slight disbelief to what he said and then rolled over to face him, staring him right in the eyes. Kage nothing would make me regret us or disappoint me. Things happen, people make mistakes, and people forgive. Maybe we'll be lucky and make all our mistakes early on so we can learn from them. I would love nothing more than to be with you for the rest of our lives and you should know that by now.
She nuzzled her face into his chest and breathed him in. She loved his smell. It was so familiar and comforting. She couldn't think of ever not being with this wolf. She would die without him, she knew. She hoped he knew that now as well.

Kage's blood raced as Dawn sniffed him. It was pure and simple ecstasy. She didn't want her to ever stop touching him. It wasn't that he doubted her in any way, it was himself he had doubts about. His mind floated somewhere between bliss and memory, until finally, memory took over and carried him back to the fight with his father. He'd said things he regretted that day, and on top of all that, he'd lost his eye. Would his own children suffer his legacy?
Dawn's scent brought him back from his disparaging thoughts. It was the best smell in the world. "I do know, love. I don't want to be with anyone else, either..." but this eye... He gazed around the room with his single jade sphere, and found that the light had changed. It was getting late, and the others weren't back yet. But they could take care of themselves, he decided as Dawn's scent continued to fill his body and mind. "It's settled then. Everything I am is yours -- it has been for quite some time, actually. We'll have a family, and start our life together here."
A short distance away, Tsuki smiled, and his crest glowed a soft red as he slept...

Dawn smiled and peeked at Tsuki from the corner of her eye. She snuggled into Kage and sighed. That's great...right now though I'm real tired. I haven't got proper rest lately, Beta-ing and all. So I think I'm going to sleep now.
She turned slightly to a more comfortable position halfway on her back and halfway on her right side, leaning against Kage, and closed her eyes. It wasn't long before she began to doze.

Kage lay awake a while longer, feeling Dawn's breathing and heartbeat, as well as his own. He smiled softly as he began to slip off to sleep as well, and just before he fell asleep, he heard there heartbeats merge into one. I love you, Dawn...

Hitoban pushed her head though the thick brush and nearly fell on her face as she came into the clearing. She looked up and smiled, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes as she saw the waterfall, her waterfall, and the home she, Tsuki, Kage, and Dawn were going to live forever. She felt it her duty to wait for the others to get though the bushes before she went inside, so she padded out into the middle of the clearing and waited for them to show impatiently. She kept glancing back at the sparkling, tumbling waterfall, knowing Tsuki was behind it, and she danced on her paws, but she was determined to wait for the others.
Come on......

Tsuki twitched, ever so slightly, and his seal glowed a soft red. Even asleep, he could feel Hitoban's approach. His pulse quickened, and his eye slowly fluttered open. "Hitoban." He smiled. He was on his feet in a heartbeat, and in mere seconds, he dashed out of the cave, down the rocky ledges, and into the embrace of his love. "I missed you so much." He said as he nuzzled her gently. "You look beat, go get some rest; I'll take care of everything here."
Tsuki smiled, but his grin faded into a stare of confusion as Mar and Shimo came into view. He shrugged, and quickly took Shimo from his father and carried him inside. He set Shimo down, smiling as he saw Kage and Dawn asleep together. His seal shone brightly, like a red star in his chest that pervaded his whole being, as well as bathing the cave in its warm light. He emerged once again to aid his father's ascent before standing once again by his mate. "Well, it looks like you all have had quite an adventure. But you're home now, that's all that matters." It was as if Tsuki himself were glowing; every hair on his body was glowing in the light of his heart, and his blue eyes became white, like a flame. This was the first time his heart had ever been this strong and happy, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. All their was left to do was await Rin, and help them both to the cave. Of course, Tsuki hadn't given any thought to the grotto, where Shimo and Rin, and even Mar, would eventually be moved to. His only thought was that his heart was whole again; his family... his pack... they were all here safe.

Hitoban's ear flicked back as she heard claws on the rock behind her and was delighted to see Tsuki coming to meet her. She nuzzled him back and licked his cheek, then sat and watched him. He was so strong, so full of vigor. Did I do that...? She smiled and shook her head when he came back outside and stood beside her.
"I couldn't rest now. I can't until everyone's safe and happy. As soon as Rin gets here, we'll all go inside. Until then I feel it's my duty to stand here and wait with you." She nuzzled him again and smiled. "But I would hardly call it a duty to have you with me. I missed you so much Tsuki..."

"I missed you too." He smiled, and the light from his heart enveloped them both. It was a warm light, full of love and hope. He didn't want to even move -- unless he could somehow become a part of her. All they had to do now was wait for Rin to get here, then Hitoban could get some much-needed rest. "Are you sure you want to stay out here?" He asked again, "I want to take care of you more than anything." The light pulsated a moment, and reddened as he blushed. But he had spoken the truth, so what did it matter if he blushed a little? "Er... so if you need rest, you should take it. I uh..." Tsuki's line of reasoning was finally overcome with the intense desire to be with her. He knew that he wouldn't be able to help but follow her if she did leave. So they really did have to wait for Rin, it seemed.
