"What the hell do you think you're doing?!?" Mar demanded as he tossed Neo out of the water.
Neo twitched like an insect and cowered. "No, you don't understand I --"
"You what, thought it'd be okay if you ate my grandchild?"
"N-no... I... don't belong here."
This came as a bit of a slap-in-the-face to Mar. It was true, the entire reality had been shifted because of the magic he'd used to save Tsuki and Kage, but...
"I'm not... in anyone's heart." Neo continued, tears pouring from his red-marked eyes. "When you look at me, you see him, and... when I look at things, I can't see what it really is... I see what he sees."
"Neo... why didn't you tell me?" Mar asked in shock.
"Neo doesn't exist! I'm a recycled soul, thanks to you! But sunlight doesn't make the blueberry pie. Things don't add up, and the longer they run, the further away the raindrops fall and hit the purple toad in the eye. And, and they'll have a few scones, and merrily, merrily, they all fall down..."
Mar's eye opened wide, and he rushed to the poor boy. "Neo, hold on, okay? You're you!"
"But the fairy doesn't like my name, but I'll get her back, don't you worry..." he continued to babble as Mar held him close to help with the shaking.
"Neo, can you hear me?"
"Neo isn't home right now, but if you'll leave a message, I'll make sure the puzzle pieces have four corners."
Neo continued to convulse and speak nonsensically, while Mar held him and wept...
