Where could he be? I don't like this... Wahya had been gone for weeks, and I could feel Giga getting stronger by the day. The demon had promised he would attack, and I just know there is no way he is going back on that promise. It was just a matter of when. When will he attack the Full Moon Pack? Will we be caught unawares? Would everyone...die? No. No, I wouldn't, couldn't let everyone die. I would defend them to my death. After all, that's what Betas are for, isn't it? When the Alpha is gone, it's the Beta's job to look after the pack and make sure all is well. All is not well, but at least I'm looking after the pack. No big, scary demon is going to get through me, that's for sure.
I looked around the moonlit meadow, the blue-tinted grass waving gently in the breeze. Everything around me screamed spring, and it was nice. Dawn and Kage's pups would be a year old soon. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of the mere infants they were when last I saw them. How cute and fun-filled they'd been! I wonder if they're still like that...? I've never had pups, so I wouldn't know how they grow and mature. But I'm sure they can't be exactly the same.
The wolves were lounging, mostly at ease despite their missing Alpha, and the few pups were sleeping soundly. The breeze that rustled through the grass was calming and quiet-just soft enough to hear the muffled yips of pups sleep-barking. It made her smile. She laid back and enjoyed the quiet moment.

Rin laid in the shadows at the far edge of the clearing away from a large majority of the pack, she hadn't been in Full Moons' territory since she and a few others left to escort Hitoban to her packs territory. Kaze and Fallen had stayed behind in Hitobans' territory to help with whatever needed doing, and Rin herself hadn't been back in Full Moons' territory for very long. And even though she'd been a member of Full Moons' pack for a long time, she never really met and got to know any of the wolves, she only knew Wahya and Hina, and since Wahya vanished Rin hadn't said much to anyone. Rin sighed and looked around the clearing before looking up at the sky and wondering what her siblings were up too.

Of course I noticed Rin in the far edges of the meadow. She was alone, as she had been often since we'd all returned. Without her siblings, she looked very lonely, and quite frail. Acting as if it were an opportunity to scan the surroundings, Hina stood and began padding over to Rin, checking left and right for any danger. She plopped down next to her friend with a smile.
"Greetings, Rin. How are you feeling? Well, I trust?" She knew it was a shabby excuse for a conversation, but there wasn't much to talk about these days. Wahya was gone and no one really wanted to talk about Giga's impending attack. It felt a tad bit awkward, just sitting there in silence, but hopefully Rin would initiate a conversation.
...Or not.

Rin blinked and came back to reality once she felt Hina lay down next to her. Rin chuckled softly as Hina asked how she was feeling, and she could only guess it was because of her still frail appearance. After the sudden illness that had tormented her for so many days while in Hitobans territory, had left her skinny and frail, and she hadn't quite yet regained her normal appearance, if she would at all. "Greetings to you as well Hina, I am as well as I can be I guess...feeling a little under the weather but I should be fine..." She paused for a few seconds, "I trust your managing alright yourself...with Wayha being gone and everthing..."

Indeed, now that I'd gotten closer, I could see how weak she actually looked. Her bones were sticking out, her ribcage showing. She would be an easy target should the pack go into battle. An enemy could break her bones one by one, the way they were so easily seen. Her fur lacked the luster it usually had, but she was still pretty. Her silver-blue eyes still had a sparkle to them, so I wasn't too worried about her. For the time being, at least.
She mentioned something about it being hard without Wahya, and I nodded. Yes, it is hard. Harder than I could have ever guessed. The weight of all these lives on my shoulders is a difficult one to bear, especially when on the brink of war. I wish he would come home soon. It just isn't the same without him as well. I sighed response and formed my words. "Yes, I am managing just fine. Truth be told, it is a bit difficult without Wahya here, but the thought of him coming home soon gives me the strength to lead this pack." Just as I'd closed my eyes, my chin on my paws, I heard something soft and non-threatening. I flicked an ear toward the sound, opening one eye to gaze at the noisemaker. It was a small pup, only a few days old as the others were. It had wandered its way over to the two of them and was now crying out futilely to its mother. I chuckled and poked my nose at the thing. It rubbed against my nose briefly before moving away, seemingly deciding it was not the thing it was searching for. It continued crying and I smiled apologetically to Rin. I heaved myself up off the ground and, taking the babe gently in my mouth, carried it to its rightful mother, who was sound asleep. I placed it near enough her stomach so it would not wander away again before returning to my resting spot. The grass was indented where I'd been lying moments before. I snuggled myself back in the correct spot.

Rin nodded and listened to Hina as she spoke, "If you need any help, or need someone to talk to I'm here to help as much as I can..." Rin watched the pup walk towards them and felt a pang of remorse and she spaced out remembering the past and didn't even really notice Hina get up and take the pup back to its mother. Rin laid her head on her paws as the memories of that terrible day kept flashing through her mind.
