The two brothers finally placed their paws on the soil of their land. They stood there for a while, taking in the sight of it all.
"I wonder how Hitoban's doing..." Tsuki said at length, "and Dawn, for that matter. I bet you've missed her terribly."
Kage nodded at his brother, "I... I want to be with her again; it feels like my heart is on fire... but --"
he paused a moment as the large figure of his father stepped across the border to stand with his sons. "It was worth it."
Mar smiled, "Thank you. I couldn't have done this without all of you. Speaking of which... hey, Shimo!" He shouted at the sky, and in a moment, a smaller white wolf descended on the trio.
"What's up, guys? I was gonna go let Hitoban and the others know that we're back." Shimo tilted his head inquisitively.
Mar laughed out loud and swept them all up with one paw and held them close. "Thank you all." He said.
Shimo stepped back and nodded, then flew off.
"That pup's getting good at that. You notice he landed without hitting us this time?" Mar chuckled.
Tsuki nodded, "We're lucky to have such amazing friends..." the sentence trailed off as his thoughts returned to Hitoban, and the crescent moon mark on his chest glowed bright red.

Daisuke, who had been lazing around since his departure from his sisters, perked his ears to the sound of muffled words and crunching leaves. He sat up and looked over the bushes to find not only Tsuki and Kage, but Mar and Shimo as well. He smiled and bounded over the bush with ease. He loped over to them casually and sat down, a grin on his face.
Well hello there! Long time no see, huh? Where on earth have you been? You worried poor Hitoban and Dawn half to death when they came home to find you missing. Leaving without a word.[/i] He paused to shake his head.

"Hmm? Oh, Daisuke!" Tsuki smiled back.
Shimo hovered in the air a moment longer to say hello.
"Hiya, Daisuke!" Shimo shouted, "I'm gonna go let Hitoban know we're home!"
With Shimo gone, Tsuki turned his attention to Daisuke. "Yeah, sorry about that. I left a message telling her we'd be back."
Kage knocked heads with his brother. "Is that what those nuts and twigs were for? You dummy! They probably got eaten or something!"
"Oh... right... er," Tsuki blushed, "Anyway, we had to go find my mother, Jira, and our friend, Girardot... before something happened to them."
Mar stared off into the horizon, thinking about all that had happened to them since they left. He turned back when he heard his mention of... his family. "Can..." He began, "Tsuki, can we save explanations for later? Please?"
Tsuki nodded. "So, Daisuke, how are things around here?"

Daisuke nodded at the explanation, and when Tsuki mention twigs and nuts, his ears perked and he got a pensive look. After a few seconds, his head snapped up, eyes wide and face flushed. A small squeak escaped him before he could make words.
"Um...I think that might have been my doing...Dawn was out hunting and Hitoban still wasn't back, and I decided to sneak in and make the place nice and clean so that when they got back they could relax. I must have taken your sticks-I mean message-into the woods."
He watched as Mar reacted to his sons, and turned his head away, feeling that it wasn't his business. When Tsuki addressed him, however, he turned his attention back to answer.
"Well from this viewpoint, Dawn is back from her hunt with a rather large buck I suppose she was planning on sharing with you two and Hitoban. Hitoban and Rin have returned-Hitoban only had a minor *deep* gash in her shoulder but Rin broke a few ribs. They brought back another wolf with them-some white wolfess named Arora who claims to know Rin-and she has a demon that only comes out on full moons. Apparently they're tied together much like you and Kage are, so if one dies, the other dies as well. My sister, Maname, is working hard as usual and trying to keep things under control while Hitoban rests up-I suspect that she doesn't know Dawn is back because they've all only just arrived. Hitoban arrived a little after dusk yesterday and Dawn arrived in the night-when Arora's demon was attempting to get into the grotto where everyone was."
Daisuke took a deep breath, catching it after speaking so rapidly for so long, and continued.
"So to sum it up, Hitoban, Rin, Kaze, and Maname are in the grotto, Dawn and Arora are in the cave, and all is relatively under control."

Tsuki stared at Daisuke with a look of fear in his eyes. "Another... demon?" He gasped under his breath, "And Hitoban's shoulder... why do these things keep happening to us? Are we cursed? Doomed to never know peace? Am I--"
"Tsuki!" Kage interrupted, "Snap out of it."
Tsuki shook it off, "Right. I'm sorry. We need to go home right now. Shimo is sure to see us, if he doesn't stay to help Heets."
Without another word, he raced off towards the waterfall.
Kage smiled, "We'll make it before nightfall, easy. Comin', Dicey?"
Mar laughed, and the two chased after their alpha, with the sun already turning orange in the west...

Daisuke watched with a straight face as Tsuki momentarily lost his composure. He didn't move when Kage asked him if he was coming, and he watched them race off. Finally he got up with a sigh and headed out toward Wahya's land. Maname was safe now, and he just had to watch Hina for a while.
"Sorry guys. I don't belong."
