It's a musical, I don't know who it's by, and google it. There's a movie, I think.

Well, just got back from my first official rehearsal. We did "Luck Be a Lady", which is an awesome song, you've probably heard. It was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the rest of it, but honestly, if I'd known about the tryouts, I coulda easily had one of the main roles. Not to toot my own horn, or anything, but yeah, the leads they've got need some work. They're good, don't get me wrong, but -- and now I sound conceited... great. Okay, shutting up now. It was fun.

It's okay. I think I know how you feel. My school is doing the nonmusical (because half of them can't sing) version of the Wizard of Oz this year. I've always wanted to be Dorothy, but because of OAP last year (when I played Death and LOVED it) I thought I'd try for the Wicked Witch this year. I did, and an amateur got Dorothy! >.< Not to mention the fact that Kaitlyn was a WAY better Wicked Witch than me, and Rachel was a WAY better Glinda than Kaitlyn and (not to toot my own horn either) I honestly believe that I would have made a better Dorothy than Chelsea. It's all because I said I wanted to be the WW that I got her instead of Dorothy, therefore screwing up the whole stinking thing! T_T
Here's what I think the cast list SHOULD have been (some of them haven't changed)
Dorothy: Me (changed) Lion: Nathan (same) Scarecrow: Eli (same) Tin Man: Mark (same) Wicked Witch of the West: Kaitlyn (changed) Glinda the Good: Rachel (changed) Boq: Someone besides Diego Munchkin *main*: someone besides Stephanie.
Now I sound like a brat lol But if you had to suffer through these rehearsals, I'm certain you would feel my pain...
And what's worse is, since I've been in One-Act and I know a lot about acting that the others clearly don't, I feel like a backseat director when I correct them. So I don't. And now it sucks. Plus I have a terrible cackle. It sounds like a dying cat...
Sorry for the rant, just thought I'd put that out there. All the stress from the impending Marching Contest and the actors around me who don't even understand the concept of "Cheat Out" when they're in the advanced theatre class-it just makes me kind of upset.

Yeah... I know the feeling. Fortunately, in a college production, they throw you out if you suck too much. The guys they cast are pretty good, so it's not the end of the world. I totally have to be in "The Producers" in the spring, though.

Cool. Makes me want to be in College theatre even more lol. She's not allowed to kick anyone out unless their behavior is bad. She has to give everyone a part, no matter how bad they suck.
But I can't wait until One-Act this year. We're doing Tartuffe (by Moliere), and I already know who I want to be (though that's dangerous since you don't get to pick with K Jones). I want to be Mariane, Orgon's daughter.

Let me see if I can make it more simple: - I am going to be in One-Act Play this year.
- One-Act Play is the UIL competition for theatre.
- One-Act happens every spring.
- The play we're doing for One-Act this year is by the [dead] playwright Moliere.
- It is called Tartuffe.
- Its wikipedia page is here.
- The list of characters is here.
- I want to be cast as the character Mariane [5th name down on the list].
- Mariane is the daughter of Orgon [one of the main characters] and is engaged to Valère.
- I am worried about wanting to be a character this early because of my director.
- My director has a habit of casting you as what you want to be least [which is why I am worried].
Get it that time?

Yeah. Although, honestly, my acting professor (Who, incidentally guest-starred on "Mork and Mindy", and has this creepy twin brother thing), says you should go for parts that are nothing like you. Go for stuff you'd never go for, so you can improve as a well-rounded actor.

I do that as well. Before I got into High School theatre, I always wanted to be the star of everything lol. (Eg Annie in "Annie", Dorothy in the "Wiz. of Oz", etc) But then I got into one act and she put me as Death. XD That's something I never would have thought of-being evil. But I'm ready for a change, a switcheroo. I don't want her to start type-casting me as the evil person every time, so I was going to go for a smaller, less sadistic character this time. XD
