Kaze shook his head, "No one else in our family has had it as far as I can remember...and no one said anything about another person ever having the same thing she does when they found out she had it....."

Damn... Maname couldn't help but let her spirits fall when she heard that no one had had it before her. She turned to ask Mar if he knew anything, to find the place deserted. The only one left was Shimo. She sighed and turned back to Rin. "I...I can't figure it out..." She turned back to Shimo. Maybe he could help her.
"Shimo, do you think you could tell what's wrong with Rin?"

Shimo responded with surprising promptness. "I need to know what to look for. I know you must have a theory, I could see it in your eyes. What do you think we're dealing with? Even if we don't have any luck with it, it'll give me a place to start looking."

Maname was taken aback by his quick reply, but was glad that there was a sliver of hope to find out what was wrong with Rin. "Well I'm positive it's internal, and I'm pretty sure it starts somewhere in the nervous system."

Shimo nodded. "Nervous System. Right." He went straight to work analyzing Rin. "My initial reaction was that it could be tuberculosis, which is a fairly dangerous human disease. I lived in a research lab for a while, and they treated a man with similar symptoms in the beginning stages." His head suddenly twitched, almost as if it'd snap right off. "But it never attacked the nervous system as far as I'm aware. Of course, I had other things on my mind then, and -- kh!" He suddenly fell over, like his entire body had gone limp. He stood back up promptly, and resumed work. "They used some of the strain on... on the one in the cage next to mine, and he had a few of these same symptoms." After looking Rin over, he shook his head. "Only problem is, it never got this bad, so I don't think it's the right comparison. You'll be glad to know that the nervous system is still intact, it's just not functioning properly." He fell down again, and this time, stayed down while he continued his diagnosis. "I don't know what to call it, or how to treat it, but it's not attacking her systems, per se, so much as slowing them down. There is some wear-and-tear on everything, but she isn't so far-gone -- if we can beat this thing, then she should be healthy again, though she'll never be as strong as a normal female. I believe it's an immune system problem." His body fidgeted again, and he sat up. "I don't know of a single infection or disease that can accomplish all this, though I don't know that much. So, as far as I can tell, her immunity responses stop working chronically, and will most likely fail altogether at some point. That would explain why she recovered before, because her immune system recovered. If that is the case, then it would also explain the strange variety in her symptoms. I only see red... p-patches... where... body is... infected. Could be multiple... sickness." Finally, he could hold out no longer and passed out. Did I... help... Mar...?

Maname listened to Shimo's thoughts, and nodded every now and then. Immune disease...If it was something wrong with her immune system, that would explain all of the other things that are wrong with her. Multiple sicknesses seemed to be the answer. If her immune system was down, then other diseases could get at her more easily. So the best thing to do would be to try and treat her immune deficiency. The only thing she could think that would help would be to repair her cells. She didn't have any kind of medicine that could help with that. The humans had that kind of technology, but no wolf healer had it. But maybe...Neo or Shimo could help her. If they could find a way to repair her cells, then Maname could help speed her recovery with her treatments, and then if it came back, they would know that wasn't the answer.
She looked at Shimo, who was on the floor, and knew that he couldn't do much in his present state. So she decided to explain it all to Kaze and then they would all rest for a while. When Neo returned from wherever he had gone, they would see what they could do for Rin.
"Well Shimo brings up a few valid points. I suspect there is something wrong with Rin's immune system, and he thinks that there are more than one diseases. If the immune system is the core of the problem, it would give cause for many other diseases to affect her-which would be what's wrong with all of her other systems. I believe that if we can repair the cells in her immune system, then we could stop the whole process. I have nothing in my power that could do that, but I suspect Neo or Shimo could. I think we should wait until Neo returns-all of us get some rest-and then see what happens."

Kaze looked over at Maname as she spoke to him, he nodded ocasionally, "Yeah, her immune system sounds like a valid point....your the healer, and I trust you to do whatever is in your power to help my sister....just....don't let the others wear themselves out too much" he glanced at the unconsious Shimo, "neither Rin nor I wish to see another wolf suffer because of her." Kaze glanced at his sister as was surprised to see her awake and staring at Kaze, a small smile spread across her maw before she glanced at Maname, and the smile faded , "Why," she said in a quiet and raspy voice, "Why do you all try so hard to help me, I know it's your job to try and help the sick Maname, but still why help me? When I'm recovered I'll only be a hindrence, a weaker and worthless wolf to this, or any other pack....Just like my father always said I was....and now...for once....I think he was right, I always thought different I always told myself I was stronger than he thought I was, maybe that's why I've lived this long....but...." A sudden violent coughing fit caused her to stop talking for several minutes, when she looked at Maname again her eyes were glassy and out of focus but she still continued to speak, "Maybe....my father......was...right....." she then slipped back into her unconsious state. Kaze closed his eyes and sighed, "Sorry.." he muttered, "I have a feeling she will leave and become a loner once she is recovered, and/or when Dawn's and Kage's pups are born...unless she is convinced to stay that is..." He knew that his statement would draw on questions, but he was willing to awnser them.

Maname listened to Rin, her anger growing at every word. It was her job, yes, but that wasn't the only reason she was helping. Rin was not only her friend, but everyone's friend. There was no reason why she shouldn't try her best to save her. She was not weak, and she was not worthless. Unfortunately, Maname didn't have the chance to say any of this. She listened to Kaze, calm again, and soon found herself asking questions.
"Why wouldn't she want to stay here? If she leaves, she might die. How could we convince her to stay?"

Kaze shook his head at a loss, "I wouldn't know how to get her to stay, and she wouldn't want to leave, but she would anyway despite the risks on her well being..." He sighed, "I don't know if you know this but, Rin had a mate and pups once. He was a loner and he just happened on the pack one day, Father gave him permission to stay a while, His name was Krama, he was a crimson red color with emerald eyes. Him and Rin met fell in love, etc. She gave birth to two pups, Blaze and Shadow, Blaze red like her father, and shadow a black pup but with Rin's blue-silver eyes.....they tried to keep it a secret from her father but it didn't work one of the pack members told him and he went off and while Rin was off hunting found where Krama and their two month old pups were, and slaughtered them as soon as Rin had returned.....I don't think Rin has recovered from that horrible memory yet....After her father killed them she buried them by herself, letting noone else help, and she just vanished for six months, i don't know where she went or what she did but when she returned our father went off and as you already know killed his mate, and so on...." He paused and sighed before continueing, "So it's not like she would want to leave, it's just she fears that she will bring bad luck to the pups and one will wind up dieing and she doesn't want that so she'll put as many leagues between her and the pups as her body can....no matter the risk on her life..." Rin's body tensed up for a few seconds before a huge shiver went through her body, she then sighed and seemed to relax a bit, though she still seemed to be slightly uncomforitable, Kaze knew that she had constant nightmares about the day her family was killed right in front of her eyes, and he was almost positive that that was what she was dreaming about.

Maname listened to the story, horrified. How could any father kill his daughter's family like that? She had known about the other things, but she never could have imagined this. "That's...terrible!" As to her bringing bad luck for the pups, that was completely out of the question. Maname knew that Dawn would never want Rin leaving just because she thought she was bad luck.
"Rin should talk to Dawn. I know she's not superstitious, and I find it impossible to believe that she would allow Rin to leave just because of that."

Kaze nodded, "Yes, it was horrible, after the incident she made extra sure to stay away and remain aloof around other wolves, and even further away from their pups not letting anyone close to her....what made her get so close to you guys is a mystery to me, because I was not here when you all met, but you still might have to do a lot of urging to keep her here, no matter how close she is to you and the others..."

Maname nodded, thinking about what they could say to keep her there. She shook her head, and then smiled at Kaze. "Well I think we should get some rest now. You're welcome to sleep in one of the healers' rooms if you want."

Kaze smiled, "yeah, I guess your right. And thanks for the offer but I think I'll stay where I am..." Kaze then glance at Rin before curling into a ball, putting his tail over his nose, and closing his eyes. He doubt he would be able to sleep, but he would try to none the less.

Maname smiled and said, "okay," before going to her room to try and sleep. When Neo returned, she would talk to him.

"Shimo?" Neo's voice came from within the grotto. "Shimo, ya up, man? I need your help, I gotta run some --" he fell silent when he saw Shimo, incapacitated on the floor near Rin. "I see... maybe later, then." Now, I just need to find Mane... I could use her knowledge of plants, if she's not busy...
