A New Home

The young Desperado was happy to finally be able to call a pack her own. Since the day her parents were killed right in front of her, which was a year ago, Desperado had wandered throughout the island, escaping from pack territories where she was chased from. The wolves in those packs never understood how lonely she felt. And then she had stumbled across the land of the pack, Kuran no Hikari. The wolves in this pack understood her and welcomed her. The only worry she had was what position the alpha would appoint to her.

Desperado was sprawled out in the middle of the meadow, her black underbelly up to the sun. This was her favorite place to sleep and think. That's all she ever did nowadays. Just sleep and think, and mostly about her future position in the pack.

Hitoban padded into the meadow, following Desperado's scent. She was the newest wolf to join the pack, and she had been waiting an official introduction to everyone else. Dawn had had her pups, and Hitoban thought this would be the right time to show Desperado around. All she had to do now was find her...

She saw her lying belly-up in the middle of the meadow, sunbathing. Hitoban trotted over to her with a smile on her face. "Desperado." She called to her, trying to get her attention without startling her. She sat down in front of the newest wolf and smiled at her.

"So you've been here a little while, and I figured you might want to meet the rest of the pack. Out Beta, Dawn, has just recently had her pups and now would be a nice time to meet everyone. I thought we could get some food on the way to take back."

Desperado jumped and scrambled to her feet. She turned her head around and saw Hitoban sitting right in front of her. "Oh, hello, Hitoban. You startled me. I was almost asleep."

Desperado yawned and stretched, listening to Hitoban talk about the Beta of the pack. something about just having puppies. At the word puppies, Desperado sprang to her feet. "Puppies! I would love to see them sometime."

Desperado realized too late that she was starting to talk out of line. "I'm sorry for how I just acted. I kind of ate one of my favorite foods and for some odd reason it always makes me too hyper. Stupid strawberries," Desperado apologized, the last sentence more to herself than to Hitoban.

Hitoban smiled and listened to what Desperado had to say. She liked the enthusiasm, and laughed when she cursed the strawberries. She was acting like an actual subordinate, and Hitoban found it a little strange. She knew they did it in other packs, but it never was much their pack's way. They were more like a family than any pack she'd ever been in...probably because they were all a family. Tsuki and Kage and Mar all related, Hitoban and Dawn related through Tsuki and Kage, and Shimo and Neo were basically family anyway. Maname was the only one that was really aloof, but she was still like a family member.

"There's no need to apologize Desperado. We aren't quite the formal bunch. Being excited about pups is quite normal-we all are. They will be a change around here."

Desperado felt embaressed now. " I was always raised to treat the alphas of a pack like they were royalty. That was what my parents had taught my siblings and me since we were born." Desperado felt slightly uncomfortable talking about her parents taht no longer existed. They had been killed right in front of her by bear. Her siblings from her litter had disappeared before their mother and father died. Silverado, Desperado's favorite big brother from her mother's first litter had also disappeared. Desperado was only a year old when that had happened.

"When will I be allowed to see the puppies?" Desperado inquired. She had always loved puppies and even dreamed of someday having her own little pups to look after. Maybe the mother of the puppies would let her help out with them every so often. Of course, she knew the each member in a pack had to help out when a litter of puppies was born.

Hitoban smiled at Desperado. Yes, that was how most wolves learned things, but that wasn't the case here in her pack. They were all family, and there was no need. Perhaps when they got much bigger, they would have to start acting like real higher-ups and such, but for now things were fine the way they were. She smiled again at Desperado's enthusiasm for seeing the pups. Maybe when they were done hunting, Dawn will be rested enough to allow visitors again.

"Dawn is resting right now, but I'm sure she will allow you see them in a little while. Let's go and track down something large to eat and we'll take it back to the grotto. Then maybe once she has some food in her belly, Dawn will show you her babies."

Hitoban rose, thinking it was time to get the message to Desperado that she had come more for just a pleasure visit. She was out and about today to gather some food for the others, and Desperado could help her. She turned and started walking toward the trees, knowing Desperado would follow her.

OOC: Sorry, I've been busy lately and really haven't gotten the chance to come on. Here is one last post for this thread, then if you want to start a thread somewhere else, you can.

Desperado stood up and followed. She felt like a puppy again as she bounced behind Hitoban. Her hyperness from when she was young was back. Thoughts of her childhood came back, playing with her three siblings and her other three older siblings. Desperado sighed as she followed. Oh, the good old days.
